You Are what you Eat!

“You are what you eat,” who doesn’t remember that saying. Did you know what food you put in your body definitely shows on your face. Certain foods have what are referred to as powerhouse ingredients that help keep your skin smooth and supple, as well as fight age-related damage for maintaining that natural beauty. Therefore in order to have natural healthy skin, it is important to pay attention to what you eat. Wondering what anti-aging food to eat and what to put on your face? Strawberries – Strawberries have more anti-aging Vitamin C per serving than oranges or grapefruit. When used topically, olive oil makes skin smoother, and more radiant. Also, consuming olive oil, provides antioxidants to disarm free radicals and reduce inflammation. Therefore, if you have dry skin, you’ll particularly benefit from topical application.

Green Tea - Not only does a hot cup of green tea make you feel good. It is filled with inflammation-fighting antioxidants. Studies also show that drinking green tea may reduce your risk of skin cancer. You can either drink it, or chill bags in the fridge and put in on your eyes for 10-15 minutes. It contains tannins, which act as an astringent when applied to skin and can help reduce puffiness.

Pumpkin -  It's orange hue is from carotenoids, wrinkle-fighting plant pigments that help neutralize free radicals in the skin, and keeps them from damaging the cells that increase aging time. Pumpkin is filled with vitamins C, E, and A, as well as powerful enzymes that help to cleanse the skin. Put 2 cups of canned pumpkin in a food processor, add low-fat vanilla yogurt 4 tablespoons honey, and 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice. Coat face; leave on for 10 minutes, then rinse. An added bonus is the seeds that not only make a great fiber-filled snack, you get the skin-saving antioxidants from the pulp.
